What is recorded here
Milla or Lisheen marks a children's burial ground beside a faint circular enclosure in County Galway. The official kind is clear even though the ground has almost vanished from sight. That absence makes the place sharper, not lesser, because it preserves young lives instead of claiming credit for itself.
Associated with an enclosure (GA055-023----). On 1st ed, of OS 6-inch map, the words 'Milla or Lisheen' appear alongside a circular enclosure suggesting the presence of a CBG. Only faint traces of the enclosure survive and no visible surface trace of the CBG.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
