Mill

On the Down Survey (1655-6) map two watermills are depicted at the river now called the Nenagh River. These are also described in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as in 'Ballycomane' there stand 'two mills (vizt) a water corne mill and a fulling mill decaying' under the ownership in 1640 of 'Sir Morish Hurly Knocklongy in ye County of Lymick Knight Irish Papist' (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 300). Both watermills (14:68/14:69) are unlocated within the townland. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary.
