Midden in Clooney (maas Ed) is an extensive midden in the Naran sand-hills, County Donegal, Ireland, where bones, slag and fire-cracked stones still mark repeated human use. Graves or cists with extended corpses have also been reported nearby, suggesting that daily discard and death itself shared the same landscape. The place may have been a working coast, a seasonal kitchen or a remembered burial ground, but its debris makes one thing plain: people kept returning there.

A number of finds of extensive areas of midden material have been made in the Naran sand-hills (Knowles, 1901, 343-45; Brunicardi 1914, 196; McGill 1947, 29) Graves or cists with extended corpses have also been reported in this area (Knowles 1901, 343-45; McNulty 1896, 382-3). Scatters of debris comprising of bones, slag, and fire-cracked stones were observed during the course of the survey.
