Midden in Cill Éinne holds discarded periwinkle shells near Cill Charna in County Galway. Robinson described little huts and shell middens hidden by thickets under the cliff-face, suggesting people lived there long enough to fill the earth with meal remains. The old reservoir to the southwest still lies beside quantities of those same shells, waiting for someone to wonder what hungry hands broke open and what they kept.

In the vicinity of Cill Charna (GA110-159001-). Robinson (1980) noted the existence of 'little huts and middens of seashells ... hidden by thickets under the cliff-face' to S of this ecclesiastical settlement. Considerable quantities of shells, chiefly periwinkle, have also been noted in the vicinity of the old reservoir to SW (pers. comm. C. Manning).
