Arkin's Castle

Arkin's Castle was built in the 13th century by the de Burgo family, Norman lords who held significant lands in Connacht. It is remembered as part of the medieval Norman settlement in Galway and reflects the strategic expansion of Norman influence into western Ireland during the late Middle Ages.
