What is recorded here

This shell midden was excavated in 1949 and 1970 (Mitchell 1956, 1-26; 1972, 151-9). It contained a hearth and shallow pits which produced animal bone material that included dog, fish, pig and bird and flint artifacts comprising parallel-sided blades, leaf-shaped points and scrapers of Larnian type. Polished stone axeheads were found on the site. Offington housing estate occupies the site. Not visible at ground level.
