Megalithic tomb

What is recorded here

Located in the garden of a modern bungalow. Not indicated on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. This is said to be the site of a megalithic tomb, however, there is no substantiated description of the structure on record. According to local information, there was ‘a mound of clay between stones’ which was located in a shallow dip or hollow. No visible trace. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 15 November 2018

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
