MEDIEVAL DITCH & SETTLEMENT SITE in Demesne OF Down; Downpatrick

MEDIEVAL DITCH & SETTLEMENT SITE

What is recorded here

Mud, fire and repeated choice built the settlement beside the ditch in County Down. People dug, carried water, dropped tools and returned after darkness because the place kept giving life back. The medieval boundary still lies under the ground, waiting for rain to reveal how often human hands shaped it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as MEDIEVAL DITCH & SETTLEMENT SITE. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
