Two slabs still mark the hidden mouth inside the Tahilla rath, waiting for a strong hand to pull them aside and reveal the dark chambers Graves witnessed. They are not a casual hole but a deliberate doorway, shaping the ancient field into a staircase that descends beneath the living world.

The IFC Schools' Collection recorded the presence of two slabs in the rath's interior which reputedly covered an opening to a Man-made underground passage. Graves described this Man-made underground passage (KE100-019001-) as consisting of the 'usual underground passages leading into chambers' (1930, 74). The above description is derived from A.
