Six ogham stones line the collapsed roof of Rockfield Middle, marking a hidden chamber where fire once burned through a crafted flue. The passage sits beneath an ancient rath, waiting for someone brave enough to follow its dark breath.

In a rath (KE057-023----). In the 1940s it was recorded that the roof of a large passage had collapsed giving access to a Man-made underground passage in the centre of this rath (Minutes of the Co. Kerry Field Club, 1945, vol. 1, 610-11). The passage led into a chamber (Wth 4ft [1.22m]; H 5ft [1.52m]) roofed with stone slabs and a 'fireplace...with a well constructed flue' and an air shaft overhead were also described (ibid.). At least one further chamber was discerned at the time but it was not investigated. The landowner recalls an entrance into a small chamber from where access to a similar chamber was gained. Six ogham stones (KE057-023002-, KE057-023003-, KE057-023004-, KE057-023005-, KE057-023006-, KE057-023007-) were used as roof lintels in the Man-made underground passage.
