Man-made underground passage in Poulacarran

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Situated in the N centre of a rectangular cashel (CL009-043----), this NNE–SSW-oriented Man-made underground passage (L 6.9m; Wth 1.28–1.33m; max. D 1.15m) has a slight ‘lightning bolt’ Z-shape in plan, with a NNE–SSW section (L 2.9m) at the N, followed by a sharp turn to the E (L 0.75m), before continuing SSW (L 4m). There are loose stones on the bottom. This possibly natural feature appears to have been in the process of being developed into a Man-made underground passage, but the work was not completed.
