What is recorded here
Under Mossgrove, a hidden passage cuts through solid ground despite leaving no trace above. Local tradition credits human hands rather than water or time, suggesting the dark tunnel served a deliberate purpose. The absence of a visible entrance preserves the mystery, forcing imagination to complete what measurement cannot touch.
Local traditon of Man-made underground passage in ringfort (CO096-094---). No visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
