What is recorded here

Monktown holds an L-shaped underground chamber, its long pit stretching twenty metres and its narrow arm reaching twelve metres north from the eastern edge. The shape appears only when overhead light strikes the land, suggesting people dug a hidden room beneath the ancient rath. Whether the passage served storage, ritual or escape, the angle and depth still point to deliberate human craft.

Located at the centre of rath (ME036-094001-). An L-shaped excavated feature consisting of a pit (dims c. 20m E-W; c. 5m N-S) with a narrow pit extending N (L c. 12m) from its E end is possibly a Man-made underground passage. It is visible as a cropmark on Google Earth (29/06/2018; 14/07/2019), and it was first reported by Jean Charles Caillere.
