Moneymore hides a man-made underground passage linking St. Peter's church to the Thosel, a route local memory has preserved for generations. The claim appears in written tradition by the mid-nineteenth century, suggesting the tunnel was already familiar enough to be repeated without proof. It may have served worship, concealment, or ordinary passage through wet ground; the forgotten purpose is the interesting part.
