What is recorded here

Seven earth-cut chambers, no larger than seven feet ten inches across and four feet seven inches high, still wait beneath the modern graveyard at Kilmocomogue. Men dug them by hand, joined by creepways narrow enough to force a crawling entry, yet no surface trace remains to mark the work. They appeared in 1960, hidden under a field west of the burial ground, suggesting human hands shaped the dark long before the graves above.

Discovered 1960 in field to W Kilmocomogue graveyard (CO105-013002-). Fahy (1960, 142-3) describes 7 earth-cut chambers, 'varying in floor area from 7' 10" by 4' 7" in height; joined be creepways. No visible surface trace; modern graveyard now on site. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
