Man-made underground passage in Leana

Situated just E of centre in a cashel (CL017-013----). This Man-made underground passage (traceable L 3.8m; Wth 1.3m; max. exposed D 1m) is orientated WNW-ESE and comprises an underground passage with drystone sidewalls in which the lower of the four visible courses is of larger stones (L c. 0.7m; H 0.3m). At the top of each wall is a course of inwardly projecting corbel stones upon which four, large roof lintel stones rest. The floor is covered by clay. The passage may have extended further to the ESE (est. L c. 1.6m). Exposed stone extending to the NE (L c. 3m) from the passage’s WNW end may be natural outcropping rock.
