What is recorded here

Knockroe holds two man-made underground passages inside a ringfort, visible only when excavation uncovered them in 1983 before earth was returned. They are no longer open, but they suggest the fort was never merely a boundary of stones. It may have hidden rooms for storage, refuge or ritual, placing human life beneath the ground as deliberately as it raised walls above it.

In NW quadrant ringfort (CO138-013---). According to local information two "caves" exposed in 1983. Now backfilled.
