What is recorded here

Knockane held a man-made cave inside a circular fort on the 1842 map, but the cave and fort vanished from later maps and lost their visible trace. That sudden disappearance suggests the passage was hidden, buried or stopped being used before the land was drawn again. It may have been a shelter, a boundary marker or a forgotten route through Kerry stone.

Circular enclosure KE014-058---- is clearly marked on the 1842 OS map. 'Cave' is marked in the centre of the fort. It does not appear on the later edition OS map, and no surface trace survives today.
