Man-made underground passage in Kilnafrehan East

Located on a shelf on the S bank of the NW-SE Glendine river, c. 50m from the stream. It was discovered c. 1970 but not recorded at that time. It is described locally as a lintelled passage (L c. 7m; Wth c. 0.6m; H c. 1.2m) extending N-S. The site was backfilled but some roof lintels are still visible. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
