What is recorded here
Islandav holds a buried passage on the northeast side of its ringfort, waiting beneath soil and silence. Bowman located the site in 1934, though no trench, chamber or opening remains visible above ground. The absence does not diminish the claim; human hands still shaped the darkness below. Forgetting the marker does not erase the making.
In ringfort (CO022-108---). According to Bowman (1934, 477), 'site of Man-made underground passage on N.E. side'. No visible surface trace.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
