Man-made underground passage in Granardkill

Archaeological excavations (02E0795) in 2003 revealed the remains of what was then interpreted as a corn-drying kiln. Further investigations in 2004 revealed that it was the drystone-walled passageway of a Man-made underground passage which had been heavily burnt at its entranceway. The Man-made underground passage had been completely filled in at some stage after it fell into disuse (O'Conor 2007, 251). Compiled by: Patrick F.
