What is recorded here
No visible marker, no chamber described, no chamber measured. Only a woman's name and a forgotten hole near a ringfort. The land likely changed hands before the passage stopped existing. What is missing is the point: a whole human-made place reduced to one line in a book.
McCarthy (1977, 359) recorded a Man-made underground passage 'near ringfort. Landowner Mrs. O'Sullivan. No details.' Exact location not known.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
