What is recorded here

No visible entrance or tunnel remains, but local memory preserves a hidden chamber beneath the central mound. That missing chamber still animates the ringfort, suggesting human hands shaped the earth for storage, ritual or refuge. The mound records the work even when the passage has vanished from sight.

In ringfort (CO041-027---). Bowman (1934, 541) recorded a 'mound in the centre, where, it is said, a Man-made underground passage was'. Mound (2m x 1.3m) noted in W half of interior, partially composed of field clearance stones. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
