Ferm hides a man-made underground passage within a possible ringfort, marked only by a past collapse that broke the ground open. The hole appeared suddenly, perhaps revealing a tunnel dug long before anyone remembered building it. That much is fact; the rest is wonder. A person may have dug the passage to escape rain, store grain or leave the world unnoticed. The earth kept the tunnel secret until weight and time collapsed part of it. What remains is a broken line in the ground, waiting for someone to imagine the shape beneath.
