Man-made underground passage in Dromnacaheragh

In pasture, on an E-facing slope with views over rolling countryside. The N-facing opening (Wth 1.2m; H 0.8m) leading to the Man-made underground passage was discovered at the base of a bank (H 2.5m) in the course of widening the S side of a farm road. An earth-cut chamber (Wth 1.1m; H 0.8m) with a rounded roof extends in a SE direction for at least 3.5m. Collapsed earth, with stone inclusions, is strewn on the floor. On the NE side of the chamber is a creepway (Wth 0.6m; H 0.4m) with a stone lintel supported by two jambstones. This leads to another earth-cut chamber which for safety reasons could not be entered.
