Man-made underground passage in Dromin — Report the wrong picture

Dromin holds a man-made underground passage revealed when a school yard was being built. Children may have played above the very stones that covered the tunnel below, unaware they were running on a forgotten roof. The passage still waits beneath ordinary ground, preserving the shape of hands that dug it and the purpose they had when they stopped.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
