Man-made underground passage in Claragh More

Broker (1937, 53) recorded a 'circular underground chamber, 12 feet diameter, side walls 6 feet high and roof top 8 feet high', found in sandpit in 1930. Second chamber of dry-stone construction 'like beehive' containing ashes and one bone. Passage extended S from this '3 feet wide by 4 feet high' , explored for 40 feet. Second exit from beehive chamber was 'a hole 3 feet square, facing north'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
