Man-made underground passage in Carrowmacbryan

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

This Man-made underground passage was listed in the SMR (1989) in Lenandoon townland on the basis of information recorded in an unpublished survey (ITA Survey 1942-4). Further research revealed that local tradition places the Man-made underground passage in the same field as a church (SL010-024----) in Carrowmacbryan townland, which lies immediately to south of Lenadoon townland. According to local information, a lintel or roof stone, overlying a cavity, was exposed during ploughing. It was covered over again and its precise location in the field is no longer known.
