Camp castle shadowed a buried rectangular chamber, roughly 3.5m long and 2m high, built of drystone and roofed with flags. Its walls carried a niche or flue with smaller niches beside it, like a hidden kitchen or breathing place beneath the field. People may have stored, prayed or escaped there before the castle fell into forgetfulness.

A rectangular chamber of drystone corbelled construction was uncovered in the 1930's in the NW corner of the field in which Camp castle (KE037-032----) was situated. It measured c. 3.5m in length x 2m in height and was roofed by 1 or more flags. In one wall was a niche or flue with other niches opening off its sides (local information; CKFC 1941).
