Man-made underground passage in Barnagore

Discovered in 1988; roof lintels accidently removed during lowering of ground level prior to surfacing of stock yard. Investigated by Jerry O'Sullivan, UCC. Stone-built chamber (L 2m; Wth 1.2m; long axis E-W); blocked creepway at E end possibly to other chamber(s); stone-built air vent at S side. Only lintels over creepway were in situ; floor covered with spoil. See Excavations 2003, 39. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
