What is recorded here
Under the levelled soil of an Annagloor ringfort, two stone chambers still wait behind a collapsed roof. Walsh and O'Kelly crept through a narrow passage in 1964, finding one lintel worn smooth and marked with pin-grooves, as though hands had handled it often enough to polish stone. The larger chamber faces north and south, measures little more than a person outstretched, and drops away east into a second chamber no longer reachable. Whatever lived above has vanished, but the small dark rooms remain, built tight enough to exclude rain and large enough to exclude forgetfulness.
In NE quadrant of levelled ringfort (CO038-02501-). Discovered during levelling of ringfort and investigated by Walsh (1964, 60-1) and M.J. O'Kelly, who described two chambers joined by creepway. Chamber 1: stone-built (L 2.4m; Wth 1m; H 1m; long axis N-S); walls corbelled and roofed with lintels; present access to chamber through collapsed roof. One lintel 'exhibited on its downward face a polished area on which there was a group of pin-grooves' (ibid., 60). Creepway (Wth 0.27m; H 0.5m) at E side of N end, leading to second collapsed inaccessible chamber (long axis E-W). No visible surface trace.
