Man-made underground passage — Report the wrong picture

Four oval holes still mark the collapsed passage beneath the Cork ringfort. Coleman described massive lintels and drystone walling before destruction erased the chamber. The holes measure half a metre to one metre deep and stretch nearly ten metres across the northern ground. Whatever lived or hid there stopped resisting the sky, leaving only shallow dimples where a roof once held back the weather.

In ringfort (8103). Coleman (1947, 71) noted 'in the western section of the enclosure are the remains of a destroyed Man-made underground passage. From the traces remaining, it appears to have had massive lintels and drystone walling'. InN side of ringfort four oval-shaped depressions running roughly E-W (D0.5m-1m) over a length of c. 9.6m (max. Wth 3m) indicate collapsed Man-made underground passage; apparently earth-cut although stones are exposed in one depression.
