Freestanding walled garden, built c.1860. Subdivided internally by central hedge with landscaped garden to east with commemorative date plaque and landscaped vegetable garden to west. Elevated terraces to north having rubble stone retaining walls with young orchard and fragmentary remains of now absent green houses Raised areas approached by multiple flag and rubble stone steps. Rubble stone walls with concrete coping, having battered and partially rendered buttresses to interior (south) elevation of north wall. Rectangular greenhouse to south-west, recent lean-to corrugated-metal shed to north-west, flanked to west by remains of raised concrete beds and to east by remains of green house. Square-headed entrance openings with dressed stone voussoirs and recent cast and wrought-iron gates to south wall. Replacement timber battened door to west and north wall entrances. Segmental-headed carriage opening to west wall, having replacement double-leaf timber battened doors with decorative painted cast-iron strap hinges and dressed stone voussoirs. Recent wrought-iron gates on rectangular rubble stone piers to south wall.
This substantial walled garden has retained its well-executed limestone walls, entrance piers, arched openings and the remains of numerous former conservatories. It forms part of a fascinating group of demesne related structures which includes the main house, gate lodge, entrance gates, glass house, farm manager's house and outbuildings.
