What is recorded here

Lissataggart is a circular rath forty-one metres across in Galway pastureland, holding a man-made underground passage in its southwest quadrant. Cattle graze above the buried chamber today, unaware that breath and footsteps once moved through the dark earth beneath their hooves. The upright boulders marking the northern bank still stand like sentinels, guarding whatever human life still echoes inside the ring.

In undulating pastureland. Circular rath (diam. 41.7m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is visible all round. Traces of the fosse are evident from SSE to W to N and the outer bank survives from SW through N to NNE. From NNW to N its line is marked by upright boulders.
