Lismammeen - Hachured

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Lismammeen - Hachured is a fairy fort in County Limerick, Ireland. Its scarped edge rises 1.8m and spans 33m east to west on an east-facing slope. Deciduous trees and dense briars block the interior, suggesting the fort keeps its own counsel rather than inviting human entry.
In pasture, on slight rise in general E-facing slope. Roughly circular area (33m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 1.8m; Wth 6.4m); scarp most pronounced on E side due to fall of terrain. Interior largely inaccessible due to cover of deciduous trees with dense undergrowth of briars and bushes. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
