What is recorded here

Lismahon is a circular earthwork in West Cork, built with a raised inner floor to hold level ground on a sloping hill. Its shallow ditch and narrow gap suggest people lived there, while local story gives the same shape to fairy fort legend. The distinction between human home and mythical claim may have blurred long ago.

In pasture, on SSW-facing slope. Circular area (diam. 39m N-S) enclosed by scarp (H 1.1m), with low internal lip (H 0.3m); external fosse SW->WNW (D 0.8m), shallow fosse elsewhere. Field boundary on scarp face encloses site NW->WSW. Gap (Wth 1m) to ENE. Interior raised on SW side to compensate for hillslope.
