Rock Castle stands as a two-storey rectangular ruin at the head of a narrow inlet overlooking Dunworley Bay in County Cork. Its thick battered walls and small corner tower with a wicker-vaulted chamber suggest a defensive home rather than a grand palace. The castle was later absorbed into a farmyard, its military purpose forgotten as it became a working building for Rock Cottage. What began as a stronghold against danger became a shelter for livestock and harvest, its identity transformed by ordinary use.

At head of narrow inlet overlooking Dunworley Bay; two storey remains of rectangular tower house (int. 6.6m N-S; c. 5m E-W) at SW corner of 19th century Rock Cottage farmyard. Converted to farmbuilding with many alterations; original features include thick walls with external base batter; narrow splayed window and rectangular corner tower (int. 1.52m N-S; 1.18m E-W; wall thickness 0.41m) on SE corner with remains of wicker centred vault (long axis N-S) over 1st floor.
