What is recorded here
In undulating grassland. This CBG is indicated on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1932) as a small unenclosed circular area (D c. 8m). No visible surface trace survives. According to local tradition, it was an area 'nine yards square' (8.2m) with stones set around the edge and the interior was overgrown; it was known as a children's burial place, though no one remembered when it was last used.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
