What is recorded here

Lisheeneenaun is a circular fairy fort in County Galway, measuring thirty-eight and a half metres across. Two earthen banks and a central ditch still mark its shape in the level pasture, though field walls have buried parts of the outer edge. The surviving inner bank shows faint stone facing, hinting that people built and reused this place before it became a fairy fort in local memory.

In level pastureland. Circular rath (diam. 38.5m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is clearly visible but is much denuded at E where it is overlain by a field wall. Traces of internal stone-facing are evident. The fosse survives all round. No visible surface trace of the outer bank survives from N through E to SE; elsewhere it is overlain by field walls. A possible children’s burial ground (GA113-079001-) is associated.
