Lisbaun, Castlepark is a ringfort, a type of circular fortified settlement typically dating to the early medieval period (c. 500–1000 AD). Local folklore may associate such sites with fairies or other supernatural beings, as "fairy forts" were commonly believed to be the dwellings of the Aos Sí in Irish tradition.
