Freestanding rectangular-plan lime kiln, built c.1880, built into hillside and facing northeast. Field-stone walls and square-headed aperture to front with stone and steel roofing, flanked by battered walls. Single-storey field-stone structure to northwest. Earth embankment to side and rear for loading crushed limestone into kiln.

Limekilns were once a common feature in the rural landscape, but are now long disused and increasingly rare. This limekiln is a robust and functional structure and was used to provide lime for fertilizer and for construction. Despite its poor condition it has retained its original character and is of technical and social significance.
