Lackabane Lios

In tillage, overlooking Shournagh River valley. Roughly circular area (diam. 44.7m) defined by earthen bank (H 1.9m). Entrance to E. Interior ploughed. Lackabane Lios is a roughly circular early-medieval ringfort, characterized by an earthen bank and an eastern entrance, situated in a tillage field overlooking the Shournagh River valley. Local tradition may associate such sites with fairy lore, as "Lios" often implies a fairy fort in Irish place-name tradition.
