Labartt's Bridge

Two-arch limestone road bridge over river, dated 1848. Coursed squared limestone walls with rounded cut-waters to piers, random rubble stone inner walls to parapets having cut-stone date stone/plaque, and cut-stone coping. Two segmental arches with limestone ashlar voussoirs, and rubble stone soffits having traces of lime render over. Sited spanning River Nier with grass banks to river.

An elegantly-proportioned bridge of solid appearance forming a landmark site spanning the River Nier, and integrating well into the surrounding landscape. The construction of the graceful arches authenticates the civil engineering importance of the composition.
