Kirkdale Cave is a limestone cave formed through natural solutional processes typical of Carboniferous Limestone in the Yorkshire Dales. It has yielded significant archaeological finds, including evidence of Mesolithic and Neolithic human activity, as well as the remains of extinct Pleistocene animals.
