Kilturra church (in Ruins)

On flat ground, with bogland to NE, E and S; in the centre of Kilturra graveyard (SL038-121002-). Only fragmentary foundations of a rectangular church (c. 20m E-W; c. 5m N-S), built of sandstone, are evident in an area much disturbed by grave-plots. This was described in 1836 as 'the ruins of an old church (very small portion)' (OSL, 425); O'Rorke ([1889], vol. 2, 196) called it 'a mere heap of rubbish'. These are the remains of the parish church of Kilturra.
