Kilquain Church (in ruins)

In W half of a roughly subrectangular graveyard (GA108-224001-) in undulating grassland, formerly demesne land. Described in 1838 (Herity 2009, 176-7) as a rectangular 'ruined' church '32.5 ft long [c. 9.9m], and about 20 feet [c. 6.1m] broad'. A short stretch of N wall, S half of E gable and the entire S wall and W gable then survived. The only architectural feature noted was a 'lancet window' near E end of S wall. However, a large breach (Wth c. 3m) noted near W end of the same wall may have been a robbed doorway. All that now survives is an ivy-clad portion (L 7m) of the W gable, indicating a building aligned E-W. The graveyard itself is enclosed by a modern wall and is surrounded by an enclosure (GA108-224002-). A holy well (GA108-223----) lies 175m to WNW.
