Kilnabritoge or Kilbrackan Church (in ruins), Gyd

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Rectangular structure (13.5m x 6.4m) represented by three courses of wall (Wth 1.3m) with rubble core and very large roughly-coursed granite boulder facing. Gap in W wall is probably original entrance. Graveyard (CW004-005002-), slightly raised, extends N of church. Traces of discontinuous enclosing wall are visible at W and NW. Two small plain granite crosses (CW004-005003- and CW004-005004-) and a single basin bullaun (CW004-005005-) in graveyard. 'Holy water stone', from local description apparently a cross base with socket removed to Tinahely, Co. Wicklow (not located).
