Kiln

Situated on top of high ground in undulating countryside. Described in 1988 by the local landowner as 'about forty years ago, he found a horseshoe-shaped enclosure with large stone slabs inside, underneath he found a large amount of red and white ashes' (ASI file 1988). This is the site of a lime kiln of post-1700 AD date. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
