What is recorded here

In woodland, built into a steep S-facing slope on the S side of a minor road. The random rubble sandstone front and side walls retain the core. The front wall (H 3.5m; Wth 3.8m) faces S and has a central lintelled recess (H 1.75m; Wth 1.4m; D 2.05m). There is a horizontal ledge across the front of the kiln, above the recess. The top of the kiln is accessed at road level; a low stone wall (H 0.7m) extends across the rear of the kiln. The stone-lined funnel (diam. 1.3m) is partly infilled.
