What is recorded here
In 1998 service trenches associated with the refurbishment of the chancel of the medieval parish church (KK020-060006-) of Gowran were cut by hand through the present graveyard (KK020-060024-). Archaeological investigations (98E0112) in the SW quadrant of the graveyard revealed the remains of a medieval kiln, possibly for drying grain, which pre-dated the present graveyard wall and presumably lay outside the medieval church precinct (Pollock 2000, 114 (entry 343)).
